Manhattan Institute Announces New Award Series Named for Flagship Magazine, City Journal

NEW YORK, NY – The Manhattan Institute (MI) is pleased to announce the creation of the annual City Journal Awards, which recognize individuals whose ideas have pushed back on destructive policies and inspired larger efforts to protect the liberties and unleash the potential of all Americans.

The inaugural honorees will be Attorney General William Barr, for his steady and principled leadership in the battle against violent crime under multiple presidential administrations, and the Manhattan Institute’s own Heather Mac Donald, for her pioneering contributions to the public discourse on fundamental questions of cultural excellence and the rule of law. Barr and Mac Donald will give acceptance remarks at an awards dinner in NYC on September 28.

“Since its inception, City Journal has published investigative reporting and cultural criticism of the highest order, advancing bold ideas that have had a deep and lasting effect on our nation’s public life,” said Reihan Salam, president of the Manhattan Institute. “I am very pleased that the City Journal Awards will give us an opportunity to celebrate accomplished women and men who reflect its fighting spirit.”
