Charter School Facilities Financing

Promoting Choice in Education

Charter schools face many challenges when seeking facilities for their students. Time and money spent on locating space takes leaders away from what they do best – educating children in the classroom.

Thanks to support from the Walton Family Foundation, the Manhattan Institute will be exploring ways in which New York City’s charter schools can better access public and private facilities. MI will work to identify financing options that can support the continued growth of New York City charter schools. As we explore capital solutions that could make it easier for charters to access private facilities, the Institute will also work to make sure charters get their fair share of space in public facilities.

Sarah Saint-Amand will be spearheading MI’s work on charter facility financing. With a wealth of experience in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, Sarah is the ideal person to oversee these efforts.

Stay tuned for more details as we progress. For inquiries, please contact Carolyn Gorman (Project Manager for Manhattan Institute’s education policy team) at cgorman@manahttan-institute.org.
