Development (Fundraising):

Responsibilities:

  • Research and maintain knowledge of MI scholars’ work, past and present, in a range of policy areas
  • Assist the Development team in identifying and researching potential donors who would place value on MI’s work
  • Create profiles of prospective donors for use by the Development team
  • Support the Development team through various administrative and organizational tasks ranging from self-directed research and data entry to staff support at MI events in the city

Skills:

  • Ability to research effectively and present findings in a concise, persuasive manner
  • Desire to learn about the management and operation of a public policy-oriented nonprofit organization
  • Specific knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong interpersonal and relational skills; some experience in donor relations, customer service, or hospitality is a plus (but not required)
  • General interest in public policy (as well as market economics, cultural and public affairs) is a plus but not required
