PAST EVENT Thursday January 23 2020

As we all look to the New Year, we are already talking about the presidential election that will define it. In the months ahead, instead of contributing to the further polarization of our national politics, we should, says author and policy expert Yuval Levin, focus our time and treasure on the things that unite us. This is the subject of Levin’s newest book, A Time to Build: From Family and Community to Congress and the Campus, How Recommitting to Our Institutions Can Revive the American Dream (Basic Books 2020).

Levin is frequently cited and praised, even by publications such as The New Republic and New York Magazine, as a leading light of conservative intellectualism. The significance of his contribution to our public discourse was recognized with a Bradley Prize in 2013. At present he is the director of social, cultural, and constitutional studies at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), the editor of National Affairs, and a frequent contributor of essays and articles to such publications as the New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal. Levin has served as an adviser to former U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan and special assistant to President George W. Bush for domestic policy.

Please join us on January 23 to discuss Levin's prescription for what ails us; how we can sustain, defend, and grow institutions that celebrate liberty, equality, and human dignity.
