The Manhattan Institute hosted an exclusive screening of Gotham: The Fall and Rise of New York. This documentary examines the city’s safety and quality of life over several mayoral administrations between 1966–2013.
Through interviews with former mayors, NYPD commissioners, agency heads, and Manhattan Institute fellows, Gotham examines the crime, education, and workforce-related challenges that made New York City “ungovernable.” Through archival footage and reenactments, the film recounts how the city addressed those challenges and became the world’s financial epicenter and premier destination.
The screening took place at the French Institute’s Florence Gould Theater.
