Biography
Howard Dickman is the Executive Managing Editor of research publications and commentary at the Manhattan Institute. Formerly, he was deputy op-ed editor at The Wall Street Journal from 2005 to 2016. His work has been widely published, with columns and reviews appearing in the Business History Review, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Journal of Labor Research, Public Historian, and the American Spectator.
Prior to his work at the Journal, Mr. Dickman served as Assistant Chairman for Programs at the National Endowment for the Humanities, a position held after nearly two decades as assistant managing editor of Reader’s Digest. He was also editor of the Manhattan Institute’s Manhattan Report in the early 1980s and senior editor at Harper’s Magazine.
Mr. Dickman received his Ph.D. and an M.A. in history from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in history from Wesleyan University in Connecticut.
