Michael Knox Beran

Michael Knox Beran is a City Journal contributing editor and a lawyer. He is the author of Pathology of the Elites (2010), Forge of Empires, 1861Ė1871 (2007), Jeffersonís Demons (2003), and The Last Patrician (1998).

Beranís writing has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, National Review, American Heritage, The New Yorker, Humanitas, George, New York Daily News, and Claremont Review of Books. He has been interviewed on Charlie Rose, CNNís Inside Politics, The Larry Kudlow Show, Extension 720 with Milt Rosenberg, and numerous other TV and radio programs. Beran has practiced law in several New York firms. He holds a B.A. from Columbia University, an M.Phil. from Cambridge, and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
