The report makes a strong case for legislative reform in clarifying the statute's reach.

 

In Could Tax Reform Defund the "Blue State Model?", Eide finds that in the near term, capping deductions would dramatically raise taxes on high earners, soften home prices, and call into question the ultimate sustainability of the "blue-state model."
